About Us
Anasi Farmers Association is a youth-led community-based organization started in the year 2013 by a group of young smallholder women farmers committed to improving the living conditions of women and children in rural communities of Kasese, Uganda district. Anasi Farmers aims at empowering rural communities especially the women with skills and knowledge to reduce poverty, end malnutrition, and increase women’s freedom and agency. We work hand in hand with vulnerable women to promote women and children justice and providing psychosocial support to them, expand access to nutritious food, and increase incomes through regenerative agricultural practices and principles.
We also teach women creative ways of earning income through the production and sale of locally marketable products. Recognizing the interrelated needs of the community, we also conduct education around family planning, HIV/AIDS, and gender-based violence and often integrate these issues into our other projects. Through our core program areas of Health, Sustainable Agriculture, Environmental Protection and Economic Empowerment and human rights, we have improved the lives of reaching more than 4,000 households in the last 3 years. As an organization led by and for rural women, we know that we can be the engines of transformation in our families and communities.
