Background Information on Anasi Farmers.
Anasi Farmers Association is a community-based organization was started in the year 2013 by a group of women smallholder farmers committed to improving the living conditions of women and children in rural communities of Kasese, Uganda district. Anasi Farmers aims at empowering rural communities, especially the women, with skills and knowledge to reduce poverty, end malnutrition, and increase women’s freedom and agency. We work hand in hand with vulnerable women to promote knowledge of nutrition, expand access to nutritious food, and increase incomes through regenerative agriculture. We also teach women creative ways of earning income through the production and sale of locally marketable products. Recognizing the interrelated needs of the community, we also conduct education around family planning, HIV/AIDS, and gender-based violence and often integrate these issues into our other projects.Through our core program areas of Health, Sustainable Agriculture, Environmental Protection and Economic Empowerment, we have improved the lives of reaching more than 2000 households in the last 3 years. Our efforts are to be engines of socio-economic development at both household and community level.
